One Vanderbilt

The sky is the limit with One Vanderbilt, a supertall 400-foot New York skyscraper with two spectacular glass elevators on the outside of the building that gives you an unobstructed view on Manhattan. Starconstruct preformed the engineering work for these elevators and developed special hardware to fix the glass. The big challenge was to make sure that the structure could resist to high loads such as hurricane grade windloads. In addition, the glass panels in the walls and floors of this elevator are continuously heated and the integration of these advanced techniques also had to be taken into account in the design. Technically, we are used to handle complex problems, but for this project we really pushed our limits.
